The government will allocate Tk 10 crore for holding the trial of war criminals, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Barrister Sahfique Ahmed told The New Nation yesterday.

Proposes Tk 5,801cr for home ministry
The government is actively considering the issues of decentralising the police administration and setting up a Public Representative Board to supervise and oversee the forces, Finance Minister AMA Muhith disclosed in his budget speech yesterday.

Reclamation drive on Sitalakhya banks continues

Four multi-storey buildings erected on the banks of the River Sitalakhya were razed on Thursday.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority and the district administration continued the drive for the third consecutive day to reclaim from the encroachers the banks of the river stretching from Kanchpur to Syedpur.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Naheed on Thursday said creative question system would be introduced in SSC examinations from 2010.

Myanmar firm keen to export electricity to Bangladesh

A Myanmar company is interested to set up a 500-megawatt hydroelectric plant in Rakhine state and export electricity to Bangladesh, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni said yesterday.

10 injured in BCL factional clashes

Ten students of Bangladesh Institute of Glass and Ceramic (Diploma engineering) at Tejgaon in the city were injured in a series of clashes between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League yesterday.
