Govt plans policy to cut sulphur in diesel

The government is going to formulate a policy to cut down the amount of sulphur in diesel fuel to 50 parts per million to ensure sustainable environment by reducing vehicular air pollution and encouraging adoption of cleaner vehicle technologies.

Clocks will be adjusted backward by an hour at 11:59pm on December 31, the cabinet decided on Thursday.
The prime minister’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the government had also decided to introduce daylight saving time on an annual basis.

Govt Schools Admission tests start in city

Admission tests in the city’s government schools began yesterday.

Justice Md Tafazzul Islam, a senior justice of the Supreme Court (SC), was appoin-ted chief justice yesterday.

Arrest warrant against newsmen in defamation case to go

The cabinet on Monday approved a draft bill to amend Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 to drop the provision for court to issue warrant of arrest in defamation cases against journalists, editors, writers and publishers.
