December 22, 2009

Bangladesh Army was held to a 2-2 draw by the spirited Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP) in the Auto Museum Victory Day Hockey Championship at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city on Monday.
With the both sides tied at goalless, Army shot into the lead when Jamal Khan converted a penalty corner on 48 minutes. Sirajul Islam doubled the Army’s advantage with a field goal on 53 minutes.
Down by 2-0, the youthful BKSP boys mobilizsed their full energy in their bid to come back into the game. They mounted pressure on Army defence with their repeated, vicious forays and soon got rewards of their hard work.
Hasan Jubair scored the first goal for BKSP on 58 minutes to raise hopes of saving the match.
The never-say-die BKSP players scored their much-needed leveller when Ajit Kumar Ghosh sounded the board with the deft finish following a combined move.
BKSP earlier defeated Bangladesh Air Force 3-0 in the opening match of the competition.
Today’s match: Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) XI vs Bangladesh Air Force (3:30 pm).
